PL Podczas pobytu rezydencyjnego w Atenach duet Inside Job – Ula Lucińska i Michał Knychaus – będą prowadzić research wokół pojęcia szkieletu jako struktury metaforycznej – tego, co pozostaje i utrzymuje się mimo upływu czasu oraz procesów rozpadu i dekompozycji. Ważnym punktem odniesienia będzie dla nich Elefsina, dawne centrum przemysłowe nad Zatoką Sarońską, gdzie monumentalne konstrukcje cementowni i zakładów petrochemicznych sąsiadują z porzuconymi, na wpół zatopionymi wrakami morskich statków. Elefsina to także starożytne Eleusis – miejsce tajemniczych misteriów, w których poszukiwano sposobów na przekroczenie granicy między światem żywych a zaświatami.
W tej warstwowości – przemysłowej, mitologicznej i historycznej – artyści dostrzegają potencjał do eksplorowania motywu szkieletu, który ujawnia się w różnych skalach: w infrastrukturze, w roślinności, w mitologii i samym krajobrazie.
Rezydencja będzie miała charakter badawczy i skupi się na zbieraniu wizualnych i kontekstualnych materiałów, które posłużą jako inspiracja do nowych realizacji rzeźbiarskich.
ENG During their residency in Athens, the Inside Job duo—Ula Lucińska and Michał Knychaus—will conduct research on the concept of the skeleton as a metaphorical structure—that which remains and persists despite the passage of time and processes of decay and decomposition. An important point of reference for them will be Elefsina, a former industrial center on the Saronic Gulf, where monumental cement and petrochemical plants stand alongside abandoned, half-sunken shipwrecks. Elefsina is also ancient Eleusis – a place of mysteries, where ways to cross the border between the world of the living and the afterlife were sought.
In this layering – industrial, mythological, and historical – the artists see the potential to explore the motif of the skeleton, which manifests itself on various scales: in infrastructure, in vegetation, in mythology, and in the landscape itself.
The residency will be research-based and will focus on collecting visual and contextual materials that will serve as inspiration for new sculptural works.
